Relocation of an existing AP is permitted when the organization managing the location at the time of the request reviews the following requirements and agrees to all of them.

If you cannot agree to the requirements, or if the relocation destination has not yet been determined, we apologize, but this would pose management and operational issues — please consider either removal or leaving the AP in place (with administrative group handover). Note that relocation requests made after vacating the premises will not be accepted, as this will be treated as abandonment of management responsibility. (Relocation requests cannot be accommodated.)

Please have the managing organization of the installation location remove the equipment and send it to the NOC. Returned APs will be used for improvements to common areas across the university.

Requirements

  • The removal and relocation dates are clearly defined.
    • Requests cannot be accepted if the reinstallation date is unknown.
    • Requests cannot be accepted if more than one month will elapse between removal/vacating and reinstallation.
  • Full payment of all costs arising from the relocation:
    • Removal and reinstallation of the AP and mounting hardware
    • Installation of dedicated wireless LAN cabling at the new location
  • Compliance with all NOC requests and instructions related to the relocation
  • In the event of damage to or loss of equipment, the organization must report it immediately and bear any resulting costs.
  • Requests to specify the connection work date cannot be accommodated.
    • Scheduling will be arranged after construction is complete and documents have been sent to the NOC.
    • If you have a desired service start date, please complete construction at least one week in advance and send the documentation with sufficient lead time.
  • Assign a fixed administrative group and contact person.
Multiple contacts reaching out about the same matter makes progress tracking impossible — please refrain from this.
  • Retain all relocation-related information and documentation within your organization.
  • Inquiries made after vacating the premises or after AP removal cannot be accommodated.
  • Please refrain from phone inquiries.

Relocation Process

Step 01: [Requesting Organization] Submit a Relocation Request

The organization managing the current installation location should contact the NOC with the following information:

  • Current information: building name, floor, room name, AP name
  • Planned removal date
  • Relocation destination: building name, floor, room name
  • Label delivery address (campus mail address)
  • Administrative group

Step 02: [Requesting Organization] Confirm the NOC's Response (Approval)

The NOC will respond with the following information:

  • AP name to be used at the new location
  • Label sent to the requesting organization

Please proceed with construction requests and other preparations only after receiving our response.

Step 03: [Requesting Organization] Carry Out Relocation Work

Arrange for removal of the equipment and preparation of dedicated wireless LAN cabling, either within your organization or by submitting a request to the Facilities Management Division.

  • Replace the label on the front of the AP.
  • Handle the equipment with care until relocation is complete; report any damage or contamination to the NOC immediately.
  • At the new location, install or verify the dedicated wireless LAN cabling.
  • Install the AP.
  • Tag both ends of the wireless LAN cable with the AP name.
  • On the rack (switch) side, the cable must terminate in the wireless patch panel.
  • If the patch panel is full or does not exist, install a new one at the requesting organization's expense.

Step 04: [Requesting Organization] Send Documentation to the NOC after Construction

After construction is complete, the requesting organization must verify the following and send the documents to the NOC.

Photos (at least 2)
Prepare the following photos within your organization: one showing the AP installation location (position in room, height, surrounding conditions), and one showing the relevant cable and tag identifiable in the rack.

Wiring Diagram
A drawing showing the cabling route on a floor plan. Obtain the AP wiring diagram from the Facilities Management Division. Please also keep a copy within your organization.

Step 05: [NOC] Documentation Review and Connection Work

Upon receiving the documents, the NOC will review them. If anything is missing or incorrect, we will let you know. Please address the issues and resubmit.

  • Connection dates cannot be specified.
  • Please wait for our notification. (Please refrain from follow-up or repeated inquiries.)

Step 06: Service Start Notification to the Requesting Organization

After the NOC completes the connection work, we will notify the requesting organization that service is available. We confirm this remotely, but we also recommend that the requesting organization verify the connection on-site as a precaution.
