The campus wireless LAN is available in a wide variety of locations, including common areas, lecture rooms, meeting rooms, co-op and dining areas, and more. Please note that support coverage is limited by the nature of wireless LAN — we can only provide support for issues that occur within areas where APs are installed.
Notes on Usage
Due to the nature of radio waves, reception may be possible near Access Areas even outside the AP coverage zone — you are welcome to connect, but such use is outside the scope of support. Additionally, nearby devices that emit radio waves — such as microwave ovens, mobile phones, cordless handsets, Bluetooth devices, and portable Wi-Fi routers — may cause unstable or interrupted connections depending on your device's specifications.
Lecture rooms are equipped with infrastructure sized for their capacity; however, simultaneous use by large numbers of users or access to high-bandwidth content is significantly affected by usage conditions and is not well suited to such use. For inquiries regarding network use in lecture rooms (wired connections, communication policies, issues, etc.), please contact the Academic Affairs Division, General Affairs Group (Lecture Room Section) or the instructor in charge of the relevant lecture.
Outside the Scope of Support
- The device does not support the required wireless standard (Wi-Fi 4 or later)
- Issues caused by usage conditions or radio interference
- Use outside designated Access Areas (AP installation locations) — you may still connect, but support is not provided
- Use of public DNS servers (e.g., 8.8.8.8, 1.1.1.1)
- Speed or stability issues during lectures, events (e.g., academic conferences, talks, symposiums), club activities, etc.
- Cases where only specific websites are inaccessible or certain services cannot be used
- Sharing or creating accounts for guests or visitors (violation of Terms of Use)
- Use cases requiring constant or frequent stable connectivity for regular work or meetings
- Situations where even a temporary interruption — including during maintenance — would halt work or impede research and education
- Devices running OS versions no longer supported by the manufacturer
Please refrain from using such devices and consider replacing or finding an alternative.- Windows: [Microsoft] End of support for Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7
- iOS: Devices no longer supported by the current iOS release
- Android: Behavior varies significantly by manufacturer and OS version; only versions confirmed to work are within scope
- Users of virtual machines (VMs), Ubuntu, or similar environments: as with Android, behavior varies widely by device configuration and cannot be uniformly supported — please resolve any issues independently
Additional Notes
- APs are generally installed in visible locations.
- Information on equipment maintenance and outages will be posted on this website as needed — please check regularly.
- Fault isolation and remote troubleshooting are handled by the NOC; however, equipment replacement and on-site inspection are the responsibility of the managing organization. (Service may be unavailable until the managing organization responds.)
- Room names and room numbers are recorded based on information provided by the room's managing department at the time of installation.
- If the managing organization or the room name/number has changed, please send us a mapping of the changes. (No updates will be made without notification.)
