Before You Begin
If you do not agree to the following terms, we will be unable to provide the campus wireless LAN service. We apologize for any inconvenience, and ask that your organization consider building and operating its own network instead.
- Please cooperate with NOC instructions and with operations and maintenance activities.
- All costs incurred will be borne entirely by the requesting organization.
- In the event of a fault or malfunction requiring on-site inspection or in-room work, the managing organization is responsible for investigation and response.
- Please prepare a backup network or alternative in case of unexpected outages. (Failure to prepare a contingency is the responsibility of the requesting organization.)
- If stable connectivity is required, please consult your organization's network contact person and consider using your organization's wired network instead.
- Wireless LAN is heavily affected by the surrounding environment (radio interference, connected devices, etc.).
- Settings are applied uniformly across the university; individual configuration requests cannot be accommodated.
- Support for radio interference investigations or checking all connected devices is not practically feasible. Please handle such matters within your organization.
- Installation requests are accepted at the school, department, or certain project levels that have authority over network resources.
※ Requests from individual laboratories, courses, units, or faculty members cannot be accepted. - Documentation used during installation (wiring diagrams, photographs, etc.) must be retained by each organization.
- If any damage to or loss of equipment or cables is discovered, please contact us immediately.
- Relocation requests made after a move or vacating of premises will not be accepted. Please remove the equipment yourself and send it to us.
Inquiries
For inquiries regarding campus wireless LAN works, the responsible person in charge must contact us at query@noc.cii.isct.ac.jp.
Please refrain from inquiries by phone, or from anyone other than the responsible person or administrative group.
Please do not change the email subject line or the responsible contact person mid-correspondence, as this causes difficulties in tracking and sharing information between both parties.
Impact Considerations
Any changes to APs (installation, relocation, removal, etc.) are decided by the managing organization of the installation location.
Any impact on surrounding parties resulting from changes made at the managing organization's discretion is the responsibility of that organization to address.
We kindly ask that you notify neighboring and related organizations in advance, particularly before relocation or removal.
Installation
An environment capable of receiving radio signals is required to use the campus wireless LAN. In areas where reception is unavailable, installing an access point (AP) will enable access to the campus wireless LAN.
The cost of AP installation is borne by the relevant university department. Please review the details before proceeding.
Installation requests are accepted until the facility's construction request deadline. New requests will not be accepted after the deadline (mid-January to end of March), regardless of reason. Please plan ahead with sufficient lead time.
Relocation
If you wish to relocate an installed AP, please consult the administrative group well in advance.
Relocation will not be permitted if management issues are identified — such as vacating premises without notice or repeatedly failing to respond to our inquiries. In such cases, please arrange for removal at the managing organization's expense and send the equipment to us.
Equipment returned to us will be used for improvements to common areas across the university.
Removal or Temporary Removal
If you need an AP removed or temporarily taken down due to renovation, vacating premises, or other reasons, please consult the administrative group well in advance.
If equipment is removed or left unattended without prior notice, the room's managing organization is responsible for removing it and returning it to us.
