▶ Services Requiring Application

NOC ServiceApplication Required

By obtaining a NOC ID via the School of Science and Engineering Portal, you can use the services listed below.

These services are available on the School of Science and Engineering campus only. (They are not available on the School of Medical and Dental Sciences campus.) New services that use the NOC ID are planned for the future.

eduroamApplication Required

This service is provided using eduroam, a global academic wireless LAN roaming infrastructure. At this university, eduroam is treated as a guest (off-campus) network.

Before using the service, please obtain an eduroam account (ID and password) in advance from your home institution.

Event Network ServiceApplication Required

For academic conferences and other events held at the university, a temporary, event-dedicated network is provided free of charge, provided that a member of the university's faculty or staff takes responsibility for the network during the event.

Applications must be submitted at least 3 business days in advance, including any test day.

Please confirm the location of use and the contact person, and follow the rules when applying. Please note that we cannot provide sufficient service for applications submitted outside the application period, applications containing errors, or changes requested after submission, and such requests will be declined.

▶ Services Not Requiring Application

DNS Server Service (Full Resolver)No Application Required

A DNS server (full resolver) is provided for use within the university.

NTP ServiceNo Application Required

This service provides standard time via the NTP protocol. By using this service, the clocks built into individual computers can be accurately synchronized to standard time. This helps avoid issues caused by inconsistencies in file timestamps or email send times, and makes it easier to correlate logs across different machines when troubleshooting network problems.

Proxy ServiceNo Application Required

This service relays communication for certain protocols from inside the university to the outside. By using this service, devices that are subject to screening for security reasons, or that cannot communicate directly with the outside (such as those using private addresses), can still communicate externally over WWW (HTTP, HTTPS), FTP, streaming, and similar protocols.

P2P Detection ServiceNo Application Required

To strengthen prevention of copyright-infringing activity over the campus network, a file-sharing software detection service is provided. The service automatically inspects traffic with the outside, detects software that may be involved in copyright infringement (and traffic equivalent to such software), and blocks it when it violates the usage policy ("do not use" applies to all detected targets).
